SITEM / International Museographic Technologies Show

1991-2006
From Dijon to Paris-La Défense

Created for the first time by the OCIM (the Office for Museographic Cooperation and Information) in Dijon, under the auspices of the Ministry of National Education, to meet the needs of science and natural history museums, SITEM is continued and reorganised by Jean François Grunfeld at the request of the Ministry.

It is expanded to include all suppliers and service providers for every type of museum. It inaugurates awards including the Exercise de Style for scenography and the Innovation Muséographique Label for exhibitors' technical advances, judged by an international panel.

OCIM nevertheless continues its involvement by awarding a grant to selected exhibitors. This grant is unexpectedly withdrawn for the sixth edition in 1999.

In 2004, SITEM celebrates its eighth edition by becoming an annual event. It gradually increases its communication actions and broadens its conference programme to include towns, architecture and cultural tourism. In 2006 it applies for and obtains for the first time the patronage of the Ministry of Culture, which grants it in glowing terms.
